Very beautiful sculptural wall light by Auguste Fix, made in the 1970s. This piece consists of an assembly of angular forms in patinated bronze and brass, arranged in relief to create a particularly expressive play of volumes and shadows typical of the artist's work. The composition, both raw and finely balanced, evokes a mineral and organic architecture where each element seems to interlock with precision. The surface treatment, marked by a warm and nuanced patina, highlights the raw strength and material presence of the object. Signed by the artist, this wall light is electrified and in very good original condition. Straddling the line between wall sculpture and lighting, it constitutes a strong decorative work that is both graphic and timeless, reflecting a free and deeply sensitive approach to metal sculpture. Auguste Fix (1925–2000) was a unique artist and a pioneer of post-war French mountaineering, close to major figures such as Pierre Allain, René Ferlet, and Guido Magnone. An exceptional climber, he notably participated in the first ascent of the west face of the Aiguille de Blaitière in 1948, before a serious accident prematurely ended his mountaineering career. Forced to reinvent himself, he then turned to metal sculpture, giving birth to powerful and deeply original works. His work, nourished by his love of the mountains, transposes the rhythms, roughness, and tensions of alpine landscapes into raw metal. Presented from the 1960s in Parisian galleries alongside avant-garde craft artists, his rare works are now sought after for their strength and the uniqueness of their plastic language.
