“Pétalas” coffee table, designed by Jorge Zalszupin for L’Atelier in Brazil, circa 1959. The table is composed of eight petal-shaped elements made of curved plywood and finished with rosewood veneer, arranged radially around a central iron structure. Together, these individual sections form a circular, flower-like composition, giving the piece its distinctive sculptural character. The curved surfaces highlight the natural grain and tonal variations of the rosewood, while the repetition of the petal forms creates a balance between geometric order and organic movement. Its low proportions and generous diameter allow the radial construction to be appreciated from different viewpoints. The design reflects Zalszupin’s exploration of expressive forms through molded plywood, combining the warmth of wood with a carefully conceived structural solution. It brings together material richness, technical experimentation, and the organic vocabulary associated with Brazilian modern design. Measurements: Diameter 130 × H 32 cm.
