Mid-Century Teak Highboard from Nathan Furniture, United Kingdom, 1960s
A teak sideboard manufactured by the British company Nathan Furniture in the 1960s. This piece of furniture embodies the Mid-Century Modern design style characteristic of that period, combining a simple, elegant form with a functional storage layout. The chest of drawers consists of three centrally placed drawers and two side cabinets with doors. A distinctive feature is the subtly contoured teak handles, which blend harmoniously into the cabinet fronts. The entire piece rests on slender, slightly tapered legs, which lend the piece a sense of visual lightness. The piece has undergone a comprehensive restoration by a cabinetmaker. The wooden components were stripped of their old finish, then stained with an oak-colored wood stain and finished with Danish oil, which protects the surface and highlights the wood’s natural grain. The chest of drawers still bears its original 'Nathan Quality' label, confirming the manufacturer.
