Sculptor, furniture and jewelry designer, graphic designer and goldsmith, Harry Bertoia was one of the great transversals of art and design of the twentieth century and a central figure of American modernism. Among furniture enthusiasts, he is known for the wire mesh "Diamond" chair (and its variants such as the high-backed "Bird" chair) designed for Knoll Inc. and first released in 1952.
