Samovar in Silver Copper, Louis XV style - 2nd half of the 19th century

Louis xv-style silver copper travel kettle, traditionally used to boil tea water, and keep it warm, especially in asian countries. It is made up of two elements. The base, with four chiseled feet, consists of two branches, richly decorated with volutes. It has a receptacle in the centre, which can become a little lamp when filled with alcohol and topped with a wick. Thus became a stove, this first element that constitutes this samovar will serve as a support for the 2nd, a container with a capacity of about 1.5 liters. It opens with a lid topped with a blackened wooden button, as does the generous handle at the top. This teapot part, rather sober, however, sports a carved spout. Note that a grate is placed at the base of the latter to prevent the tea leaves from passing into the cup during service.
