Authentic Andalusian orza from Lucena, in the province of Córdoba, a renowned centre of traditional Spanish ceramics. This beautiful handcrafted piece from the mid-20th century captivates with its generous lines, two side handles, and perfectly preserved original lid. Made from hand-turned terracotta and covered with a glazed finish, it features an elegant vegetal decoration painted by hand in deep green hues, reminiscent of an olive branch or a tree of life, an emblematic motif of Andalusian folk art. Originally intended for food storage in homes in southern Spain (oil, olives, cured meats, preserves), this orza is now a remarkable decorative piece that will naturally find its place in a Mediterranean interior, chic countryside, family home, or wabi-sabi universe. The quality of its execution is appreciated: visible hand turning, traditional glazing inside and out, hand-painted decoration, as well as the slight firing irregularities that testify to its artisanal authenticity. The lid is present and original, a feature that has become increasingly rare in this type of antique pottery. Condition: Very good vintage condition. Some signs of age and inherent irregularities from artisanal production. Dimensions: * Height: 26 cm * Width with handles: 25 cm * Base diameter: 8 cm * Opening diameter: 9.5 cm Weight: * 1.128 kg Origin: Lucena, Córdoba, Andalusia – Spain Period: Circa 1950-1965 Material: Glazed terracotta and hand-painted decoration.
