The pottery workshop of Jean Louis Nigon and Monique Lesbroussart is located in Savignies, an important pottery centre from the Gallo-Roman period until the 19th century, at number 1 Butée Street. Jean Louis Nigon studied at the Fine Arts in Amiens in 1965 and 1966 and obtained his diploma in ceramics. He then created his first workshop in 1969, where he built a wood-fired kiln, foot-powered wheels, researched clay and glazes, and started his activity in 1972. Monique Lesbroussart spent a year in a modelling workshop at Porte St Martin in Paris. She then studied at the Fine Arts in Amiens in 1974-1975, after which she worked for 10 years in a small workshop near Amiens. In 1986, she joined Jean Louis Nigon in Savignies. Together, they produce stoneware fired in a wood kiln at 1300° and glazed pottery engraved according to the tradition of the village potters from the 16th century, which they fire in an electric kiln at 1000°.
