1964 swedish vintage oil painting

A very confidently executed modernist composition painted in oil onto board, and dated 1964. This painting presents a figure and a donkey with a load on its back, crossing through a desert, with hills in the background. Realistic details have intentionally been omitted, and planes of contrasting muted colours have been used to demonstrate form and depth to the artwork. Painted in an expressive manner, the artist has used distinct painterly multi-directional brushstrokes that add a soothing and rhythmic touch to the painting. This oil on board is housed in a complementary gilt frame. Both painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition. Size: 30 X 52 cm (including frame).
