Old dark wicker harvest basket

A vintage dark brown wicker harvest basket, beautifully shaped like a boat, that will bring an authentic and rustic touch to a kitchen, entryway, or country home. The basket is woven from unpeeled raw wicker, with a warm hue ranging from reddish brown to chocolate. Its oval and flared shape, with raised edges at the ends, is highlighted by a tightly twisted border. The light wood handle, made from a single piece, runs through the basket from side to side and extends beneath the bottom to form a central rib that reinforces it and serves as support. It is attached to the border with crossed wicker bindings, a detail of traditional basketry. These baskets were once used to gather fruits and vegetables from the garden, collect mushrooms, or bring eggs from the henhouse. This vintage basket can be repurposed in the garden or at the market, or serve as a fruit bowl, storage for dish towels, or a planter for a composition of dried flowers. Overall good condition with a few broken or slightly loosened strands, and the handle shows signs of wear and patina.
