The "Cleopatra" daybed, designed by Dick Cordemeijer for Auping in 1954 and produced in Deventer, Netherlands. An icon of post-war Dutch design, it combines a black enamelled steel frame on slender, tapered legs with a base of woven steel spring mesh — still bearing the Auping logo — and two sculptural solid teak end rolls that give the piece its elegant boat-like profile. Used with a mattress or cushion, it can serve as a daybed, guest bed, or low sofa in a living room, studio, or bedroom. The original label "auping – deventer – made in holland" is still attached to the frame. Sold without a mattress. In good vintage condition, with signs of age and use: the teak end rolls have scratches, small dents, and a few small chips on their edges and end grain. The black frame and legs have slight scuffs and a few small paint chips, and the Auping label is slightly torn in one corner. The woven spring mesh base is intact, and the structure is solid and stable. height: 36 cm seat height: 26 cm depth: 82 cm length: 200 cm
