Alessi bowl 1983 limited edition in homage to Josef Hoffmann, iconic designer of Art Nouveau and founder of the Wiener Werkstätte. Josef Hoffmann, born in December 1870 and died in May 1956 in Vienna, was an Austrian architect, designer, and entrepreneur, co-founder of the Wiener Werkstätte, and one of the leading figures of the Vienna Secession. The influence of this creator on modernism in the 20th century is considerable. The "Rose Bowl" in silver-plated brass is a replica of a model from 1906, designed by Peter Arnell and Ted Pickford, manufactured around 1983 by Alessi. This bowl was reissued in homage to Josef Hoffmann. Arnell and Pickford discovered a photograph from 1906 illustrating this model and recreated it for Alessi in 1983. This piece is also part of the permanent collection of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. This round and open bowl rests on four ball feet and features a repeated openwork rose petal pattern around the edge. It bears the artisan's stamps and the number 12838. Dimensions 23cm X 8cm. Weight 676 grams.
