Les faïenceries de gien is a fine earthenware manufacturing company located in the eponymous town in the centre-val de loire region, founded by thomas edme hulmen (known as hall) in 1821. Among the many earthenware factories born in the 19th century, that of gien is one of the most renowned and most important in europe. The factory excelled in the art of imitation, and produced copies of pieces from the past at an affordable price. Unique pieces were also created with the help of talented artists who illustrated them with new decorations or were inspired by those of past centuries (17th and 18th centuries) or those of other european and far eastern earthenware. Notice to lovers of tableware: to complete a service or to create a mismatched “tea time” very good condition. D 13.8 cm vg 2023-88.
