This Knoll Antimott sofa, produced in Germany in the 1960s, is an excellent example of mid-century modern European design with clear Scandinavian influences. Models from the Antimott series appeared under the name Wilhelm Knoll / Walter Knoll and remain among the rarest examples of German furniture design from this period. Very little documented information about the series has survived, but vintage catalogues and archive listings confirm its characteristic construction based on a lightweight wooden frame and removable cushions with resolutely modernist proportions. The frame is made of solid teak with a warm hue and beautiful natural grain. Slim armrests and slightly tapered legs give the sofa a visually light appearance despite its generous three-seater size. The frame has been professionally and carefully restored by removing the old upholstery, staining, and finishing with varnish. The restoration was carried out by a talented and experienced carpenter with over 20 years of experience. The cushions have been reupholstered in a beige fabric made from recycled wool. Thanks to these treatments, the sofa is stunning and will serve its new owner for many years without fear of damage or wear from daily use. Stylistically, the sofa belongs to the mid-century modern movement while also reflecting the strong influence that Danish design had on German manufacturers in the 1960s. The form is understated and functional, without superfluous decoration—only carefully balanced proportions and everyday comfort. The removable seat and back cushions, characteristic of the Antimott series, give the sofa a more relaxed vibe, akin to a lounge. It is a piece that works well in both contemporary interiors and more classic vintage spaces. The open wooden structure prevents the sofa from appearing visually heavy, while the generously proportioned cushions offer comfortable and natural support. Its discreet shape makes it versatile enough for a living room, lounge area, or office interior.
