The word Matriochka is derived from the first name Matriona often associated with a corpulent Russian woman and the countryside, These dolls number 8 and with a different decor on each of them. The largest is 24 cm. The smallest 2 cm, They're hand-painted. They are made in the USSR. Purchased on 10 03 1991. Last year of existence of the USSR. The wood used is birch, common wood in Russia and easy to work with.
