Danish teak corner display cabinet on tapered legs, 1960s

Danish corner display cabinet from the 1960s, finished in teak veneer. The design uses an unusual angular form to make use of corner space, which is rarely seen in furniture of this era but is very practical. The construction features a trapezoidal body set on slender, tapered solid wood legs. Glazed doors provide access to shelved interior space, allowing objects to be displayed while remaining protected. A functioning lock with key secures the contents. The proportions balance the functionality of the corner form with the lightness typical of Danish design—the body avoids visual heaviness while the legs create an impression of the piece floating above the floor. Danish furniture production in the 1960s embraced democratic design: well-crafted, affordable pieces suited to compact living spaces. Corner cabinets addressed the practical challenge of limited floor area in Scandinavian homes. Teak veneer, the signature material of this period, combined visual warmth with efficient manufacturing, achieving the appearance of solid hardwood at accessible prices. This display cabinet is ideal for showcasing ceramics, glassware, or books that deserve visibility and protection. The corner configuration utilises space that typically remains empty in most room arrangements, while the lockable doors keep contents dust-free. The piece is in good condition with traces of use consistent with its age. Minor scratches and small chips are visible on surfaces. Small losses have been filled. Key included. The more noticeable traces of use are also documented in the photographs, so the actual state of preservation is conveyed as faithfully as possible.
