Mirror by George Sowden for Memphis Milano, 1986

This rare wall mirror was designed by George J. Sowden in the mid-1980s and produced for the Italian magazine La Donna in 1986, in collaboration with Memphis Milano. Created as a commemorative piece, it was never released to the general public, which explains its rarity. The mirror is made of lacquered wood, adorned with a striking central detail: a perforated black metal insert that adds depth, contrast, and texture. The composition of arcs, rectangles, and vertical supports gives the piece a subtly anthropomorphic silhouette, echoing the playful and symbolic language of Memphis design.
