This sideboard dates from the 1960s and is crafted from teak wood. The piece is a characteristic example of British Mid-Century Modern design, combining a simple geometric form with decorative wood grain and carefully crafted woodworking details. The sideboard features a long, low silhouette and a symmetrically arranged front. Two cupboards are positioned on either side, while the central section contains a drawer and a cupboard with a drop-down door beneath it. This arrangement provides versatile storage options while maintaining the harmonious proportions of the piece. The fronts are finished with carefully selected teak veneer, displaying a distinctive decorative grain. Particularly striking is the symmetrical arrangement of the wood grain on the side cupboard doors and central front, highlighting the natural beauty of the teak. Subtly sculpted handles integrated into the fronts are a characteristic design detail, preserving the clean, uninterrupted appearance of the sideboard. The side cupboards are fitted with internal shelves. The central drawer features dividers for organising smaller accessories, while the compartment below provides additional storage behind a drop-down door. The sideboard rests on two distinctive wooden bases with a geometric construction. Their light, open design raises the cabinet above the floor, giving it an elegant silhouette and emphasizing its modernist character. The sideboard has undergone professional furniture restoration. The wooden surfaces were stripped of the old coating and subsequently finished with high-quality Danish oil, enhancing the natural colour and decorative grain of the teak wood. Thanks to its practical design, the sideboard is well suited to a living room, dining room or office. Its timeless form complements both classic mid-century furniture and contemporary interiors. A fragment of the original label from a British furniture retailer in Gloucester has been preserved on the piece, providing an interesting detail of its history.
