Great originality for this pair of Directoire style wall sconces, in gilded and patinated bronze. The arms support two lights with finely decorated sockets connected to a round base, decorated with beaded and guilloché friezes, it presents a central medallion in laurel wreath surrounds a crossed quiver of arrows and a flaming torch, motifs dear to the 18th century, the lower part ends with a knotted ribbon and a pine tree. The detail work is admirable to represent Liberty, a strong symbol of the Directoire period taking up the revolutionary theme.
