Authentic small dressing table from the 19th century, featuring applied colours and a design of a swan and its cygnets added later in the 20th century. This small piece of furniture evokes the items used by courtesans, easy to move and store in a corner for quick touch-ups (makeup, hair, powder), commonly used in brothels in the 19th century. In its current state, with this design on the top, it likely belonged to a woman, a family mother who kept it tidy. The added design shows the presence of cygnets, which was not a representation suitable for a brothel. This addition from the 20th century has been applied to the original piece. The dressing table is in its original condition, showing signs of use. Total height 113 cm, top diameter 44 cm, height to the top 81 cm. There is a small missing bobeche on the candlesticks and a small nut on the mirror (see photos). Please feel free to contact me for further information.
