We are incredibly proud to present a true masterpiece of 1930s European craftsmanship. This exceptional Art Deco occasional table, or small console, is a testament to the era's dedication to geometric elegance and the celebration of luxurious natural materials. **Design and Material** The defining feature of this piece is its spectacular veneer. The main tabletop and the lower shelf are both adorned with premium quality flame walnut veneer (also known as crotch walnut). The master cabinetmaker utilised the highly demanding "bookmatch" technique, arranging the veneer leaves symmetrically to create a mesmerising, kaleidoscopic pattern that resembles a Rorschach test or flickering flames. This natural artwork gives the table a three-dimensional depth and a jewellery-like quality. To ensure the breathtaking wood grain remains the focal point, the overall silhouette of the table is kept architecturally clean and modernist. It features elegant, square-section legs that gently taper towards the ground, providing a light and sophisticated stance. A testament to its refined design is the cleverly concealed drawer handle, seamlessly integrated underneath the front panel to maintain the minimalist geometry. **Versatility** With a height of 86 cm, this piece is taller than a standard table, making it incredibly versatile for contemporary living. Originally designed likely as a luxurious telephone or radio table, today it serves perfectly as an elegant entryway console (complete with a spacious drawer for keys and mail), a sophisticated base for a high-end vintage record player, or a statement pedestal for a large lamp or sculpture in a living room. **Condition and Restoration** This table has been comprehensively and professionally restored in our specialised workshop. The old finishes were meticulously removed down to the bare wood. The entire structure was inspected and reglued to ensure perfect stability. Finally, the surface was protected with high-quality hard wax oil.
