Important Napoleon III mirror in gilded stucco – late 19th century. ✨ A decorative piece of character, with a strong presence, combining ornamental richness and authentic patina. Very beautiful and important antique mirror in the Napoleon III style, made in the late 19th century (circa 1870–1900). This mirror stands out for its richly adorned frame in wood and gilded stucco, featuring an abundant decoration of scrolls, foliage, and leaf motifs, topped with a sculpted pediment with a central shell, emblematic of the eclectic aesthetic of the Napoleon III period. The gilding is original, showing a deep, nuanced, and elegant old patina, with areas of natural wear on the reliefs that highlight the quality of the decoration and the authenticity of the piece. The old glass, preserved, shows alterations to the backing and marks of time, offering a slightly patinated and lively appearance, highly sought after for characterful interiors. ⸻ Condition. Good overall condition considering its age and nature. To note: • cracks and small losses in the stucco, particularly on certain parts of the decoration, • ancient wear of the gilding, • glass showing pitting and oxidations. These elements are perfectly consistent with an authentic 19th-century mirror and contribute to its decorative charm. ⸻ Style & use. Napoleon III / eclectic style. Ideal in a Haussmannian interior, a family home, a boutique hotel, or as a striking piece in a contemporary decor playing with the contrast of old and modern.
