Pablo picasso (1881-1973) - madoura. Plate "picador, 1952" (a. R. 160), edition of 500 dating from 1952. Bought in vallauris from madoura. Round-shaped plate in white earthenware, green and black oxidized paraffin décor and white enamel. Picasso edition under the background. Bibliography: alain ramié, picasso, reasoned catalogue of ceramic work from 1947 to 1971, paris, 1988, model varying p. 89 no.160. This model of the picador, emblematic of the artist, is a superb testimony of the picasso adventure in vallauris, begun in 1946. "over the course of twenty years, picasso created four thousand original works. According to his wish, some ceramics were made in several copies and madoura had the exclusivity. In doing so, he wanted these published ceramics to have daily use as he opened up to andré malraux: "i made plates; you can eat in it."" D: 20 cm. A few micro-shards on the back, a discoloration of the enamel visible on the marli of the plate.
