Ilmari Tapiovaara, Set of 2 vintage ‘Domus’ armchairs, 1946

A set of two Domus armchairs by Ilmari Tapiovaara, manufactured by De Coene for Knoll International. This rare version is distinguished by its square brass fittings, replacing the usual screw joints on the back. Designed for the Domus Academica in Helsinki in 1946, the Domus armchairs marked the beginning of Tapiovaara's international career. With a solid and perfectly functional structure, they are suitable for everyday use. The seats have been reissued in LIA fabric by Dominique Kieffer for Rubelli. Manufacturer: De Coene.
