This lithograph is an edition based on an original gouache of Les Métamorphoses signed Georges Braque in 1963, and reproduced on page 89 of the book "Les Métamorphoses de Braque", by Heger de Loewenfeld and Raphaël de Cuttoli, Editions FAC, Paris, 1989. Les Métamorphoses derives its name from the transposition into three dimensions of a suite of 113 gouaches made for this purpose by Braque at the end of his life. The ensemble is placed under the aegis of the gods and goddesses of mythology.
