French Art Deco Degué Ice Blue Hexagonal Glass Pendant Ceiling Light

A striking and uncommon French Art Deco hanging ceiling light by the renowned glassmaker Degué, dating from the Art Deco period. This beautiful piece features an unusual hexagonal platform design, crafted from heavy, high-quality pressed glass in a highly desirable ice-blue hue. The glass is richly decorated with deeply moulded relief depicting stylised floral motifs, reminiscent of dahlias or marigolds, creating a wonderful combination of geometric form and organic Art Deco ornamentation. The exterior has an acid-frosted finish, beautifully diffusing the light to produce a soft, atmospheric glow, while the interior remains smooth. The pendant retains its original three ropes and buttons, adding to its period character. It is suspended from a brass cup-style ceiling fitter, which is a later addition. The light accommodates a single bulb. The glass is signed Degué, with the number 1058 and France marked on the rim, authenticating its French origin and adding to its appeal for collectors of Art Deco lighting. The light has French twin core braided wiring and takes a large bayonet B22 bulb. The shade is in good vintage condition with no chips or cracks. It does have some air bubbles within the glass which is a common feature in glass lighting from this era. The signature is very clear. The ropes show some age related marks and areas of discolouration with some fraying on the buttons. The ceiling canopy has some age related marks.
