Important Art Deco lamp in bronze and glass paste, France, circa 1920.
Rare and elegant French Art Deco lamp from the 1920s, combining a finely chiselled bronze frame with a shaded glass bowl of remarkable quality. The glass dome, with subtle gradients of powder pink and opalescent ivory, features a typical clouded decoration of the great artistic glassworks of Lorraine from the early 20th century. The thick and luminous glass diffuses a soft and warm light, particularly refined when lit. It is adorned with decorative floral bronze buttons perfectly integrated into the whole. The gilded bronze base, with a beautiful presence, is distinguished by its meticulous craftsmanship and architectural lines, characteristic of the Art Deco vocabulary. The whole rests on a richly moulded circular base, providing the lamp with great stability and strong decorative elegance. The lamp is unsigned, but the quality of execution, the glass, and the overall aesthetic allow for a very probable attribution to a great Lorraine glass master, in the circle of Schneider, Müller Frères, or Daum. The electricity has been completely refurbished, ready for use while respecting the original spirit. A top-notch decorative piece, ideal for an Art Deco interior, a collection of artistic glass, or a contemporary decor seeking a touch of historical elegance.
