Vintage Danish oak chairs from the mid-century by Hans J. Wegner for Getama, 1960s, set of 4.

This set of four chairs was designed by Hans J. Wegner for the Danish manufacturer Getama Gedsted in the 1960s. The raw, geometric frame of the chair is made of light oak wood. The seat and backrest are covered in high-quality black vinyl. The wide seats and armrests make the chairs very comfortable. Hans J. Wegner is a world-renowned Danish designer, primarily known for his numerous chair designs. Wegner had a particular ability to combine functionality and aesthetics. Many of his projects have playful or poetic qualities. Wegner is known as one of the pioneers of Danish modernism and a key figure in the golden age of Nordic design. He received numerous design awards throughout his career, including the Lunning Prize and the Grand Prix at the Milan Triennale in 1951, the Prince Eugene Medal in 1961, and the C. F. Hansen Medal in 1980. Getama embodies something truly Danish. The excellence of craftsmanship, quality, and the highest level of service have made the factory a well-known and respected company throughout Denmark. This is primarily due to the collaboration with Hans Wegner, which helped Gedsted Tang-og Madrasfabrik make an international breakthrough as a furniture company. Following this breakthrough, the company needed to find a shorter and more international name, so in 1953, Gedsted Tang-og Madrasfabrik became Getama. Getama's ambition, after more than a hundred years, is still to create innovative furniture designed by the best architects. The chairs are in their original vintage condition. They show slight signs of use related to age. The seat height is 40 cm. The colours of the products shown in the photos may differ slightly from the actual ones.
