A minimalist yet elegant flush-mount light fixture (plafoniere / chandelier) from the 1950s. Model no. 5178, manufactured by J. T. Kalmar in Vienna, Austria. A generously sized piece (23.5" diameter), but still delicate, refined, and reduced to the essentials. The model name of this lamp is “Dorn” (German for “thorn”)—and the name says it all. This minimalist design consists of a large, round, domed lampshade and a thorn-like stem, also crafted from beech wood, that appears to pierce through the shade. The result is an understated and charming fixture that not only illuminates the room but also functions as an uplight. The lamp features three light sources and will be delivered rewired to meet the electrical standards of your region (E26 US or E27 EU). The lampshade has been professionally refurbished with an off-white quality silk fabric using the original metal frame, preserving its original shape and dimensions. The light emits a beautiful glow and remains in very good condition. Diameter 23.5“, height 13" This is a rare piece.
