Set of 6 cups and saucers from the 1920s

A set of six cups and saucers in Limoges porcelain (first quarter of the 20th century) by Théodore Haviland (1842-1919). Haviland founded his own porcelain manufacturing and decorating company, immediately focusing on high-end production, primarily for the United States. Severe crises from 1908 to 1940 significantly challenged the typical economic model of the so-called luxury goods industry, based on high-end production. In this respect, the Théodore Haviland company represents an atypical segment of French industry: the "luxury" sector, boasting strong international visibility. However, its commercial success was not realized, and the company was overtaken by advancements and developments in import-export. Less enterprising with age, Théodore Haviland turned to renowned designers, including Louis Damon, owner of the shop "Au Vase Etrusque" on rue Malesherbes in Paris. A true creative, Damon had a decorating workshop, and at Théodore Haviland's request, he created this very trendy celadon-colored (pale green) dinner service, which is also incredibly timeless!
