“indian summer” by marcel demagny has a topical atmosphere, an air of nicolas de staël. Oil on canvas with a knife. Single work 46 X 38 cm. Framed (frame to be reviewed...) marcel demagny was born on october 2, 1949 in crehange in moselle. He came to painting and drawing from a very young age. His passion was strengthened and confirmed after his entry into the nancy school of architecture, integrated into the school of fine arts, through meeting and confrontation with painters and visual artists. Graduating in 1974, he then worked as chief architect of the urban community of grand nancy, until october 2005. He signed numerous architectural projects, without stopping painting. His exhibitions since 1969 have been very successful, he has exhibited since 1990 in numerous galleries in france and abroad. From october 2005, he devoted himself exclusively to painting, he left lorraine to live in the south of drôme. He masters perspectives, purifies forms, transfigures landscapes into compositions bordering on abstraction. Inspired by painters of color and material: nicolas de staël, cathelin, venard, ambrogiani, hilaire..., as much by those who use violent contrasts, as those, calmer, who use subtle nuances. More than forty years of passion and practice characterize his style, he works with a flat knife. He creates paintings with his writing and does not wish to be confined by particular subjects. “the painting must leave a part of a dream to the observer, the canvas will live several times. Ephemeral on the strokes of spatulas covered with colored material, it will come back to life with each look, with each caress. To paint is to exist, it is to leave the trace of deployed energy. The vigorously worked material vibrates under the light, and this brings a new dimension to the subject treated. ©marcel demagny taken from the painter's personal website.
