We are delighted to present a true rarity of European Mid-Century Modern design: a pair of the iconic "Heart" chairs (Krzesło Serce). Design & Provenance. Designed in the 1960s by the Krakow-based architect couple, Helena and Jerzy Kurmanowicz, for the Radomsko Furniture Factory. This specific design was recognised and awarded by PAGED (the Polish Foreign Trade Agency) for its outstanding form, intended to showcase the quality of Polish design to the West. The chairs feature a stunning, sculptural backrest shaped like a heart (or a spade suit), offering an organic, light, and romantic silhouette that rivals the best Italian or Danish designs of the era. Restoration & Finish. These chairs have undergone a comprehensive, professional restoration in our specialised workshop. Woodwork: The solid beech frames were stripped to raw wood, stained in a deep, elegant walnut shade, and finished with premium hard wax oil. This finish highlights the wood grain and provides a satin, natural touch (unlike synthetic varnishes). Upholstery: The interiors (foam, webbing) are brand new. We selected a luxurious, high-end velvet in a deep crimson / blood-red shade. Use. This pair creates a powerful visual statement. They are perfect as: A "Power Couple" set for a stylish living room. Unique vanity chairs for a bedroom. A collector's item for lovers of Eastern Bloc design history. Condition: Restored / Perfect condition. Era: 1960s. Origin: Poland. Designers: Helena & Jerzy Kurmanowicz. Dimensions: Height: 78 cm. Seat Height: 45 cm. Width: 42 cm. Depth: 42 cm. Price is for the pair.
