This antique pair of gorgeous late 19th century Italian carved wood architectural pedestals or columns features a rectangular form and a wonderful faux marble red, black, and silvered lacquer finish. They are designed with wide squared reinforced top and base sections, with raised coffered panels and tapered tops. The faux marble painting is highly realistic, featuring red faux Porphyry marble with geometrical black painted frames on the central part of the columns. The tops are lacquered with black Portoro marble patterns showcasing gold-yellow veins, while the base and the carved apron under the top have silver lacquered finishes. All sides are decorated and finished with meticulous craftsmanship. The pedestals have a charming patina over their large-scale, visually striking plinth design. They are solid, stable, and sturdy, with proportions ideal for bearing heavy objects like sculptures, busts, vases, or urns. Each pedestal is weighted for stability. They remain in perfect structural condition, with rich beeswax polish enhancing the surface. Minor wear and slight scratches on the top due to age and use are visible. One side of the lower part of one of the two columns shows slightly more wear than the others, as illustrated in the provided photos. Dimensions: Width 51 cm, Height 97 cm, Depth 51 cm.
