Table Lamp Model 3214 “Grevie” by Lars Bessfelt for Ateljé Lyktan – Sweden, 1979

The “Grevie” was one of Lars Bessfelt’s first designs for Ateljé Lyktan, and it already shows the confidence and material sensibility that would define his work throughout the 1980s. The dark stained beech wood base rises in a fluid curve, wrapping around a height-adjustable chrome stem that sweeps upward and outward to carry a wide conical shade. The combination of warm stained wood and polished chrome is characteristic of the period — practical and elegant in equal measure. The stem is height-adjustable and rotates a full 360 degrees, allowing the light to be directed wherever it is needed.Ateljé Lyktan was founded in Åhus, Sweden in 1934 by Hans Bergström, and became one of Scandinavia’s most respected lighting manufacturers, known for bold, design-led work at the intersection of function and sculpture.Condition is excellent. The wood is clean and free of scratches or discolouration, and the chrome stem is rust-free throughout. The shade shows only minor staining consistent with age and use. Notably, the lamp retains both its original shade and its diffuser at the top — a small disc that is very frequently missing on lamps of this model. Original label on the base. E27 bulb.
