Unique handmade object. Magnificent collector's piece in salt-glazed stoneware, from the famous Schmitter art pottery in Betschdorf (Alsace). This conical vase features exceptional relief work. The main decoration depicts a stork in flight, an emblematic symbol of Alsace, soaring over reeds and bulrushes. The glazing is a deep and intense cobalt blue, with light grey-blue highlights that accentuate the fine details (feathers, beak, leaf veins). The interior is a contrasting pearl grey, typical of natural stoneware. Technical details: Origin: Betschdorf, France (Bas-Rhin). Workshop: Maison Schmitter (Incised signature under the base: "Schmitter Betschdorf"). Technique: Salt-glazed stoneware (high-temperature firing, around 1250°C, with sea salt projection to vitrify the piece). Decoration: Floral and animal (Stork and Reeds) entirely handmade. Style: Art Deco / Regionalist. Condition: Excellent vitrification condition. The glaze is shiny and the colours remain very vibrant. Dimensions: Height: 18 cm. Diameter approximately: 8 cm at the base and 11 cm at the neck. Weight: 728 grams.
