Empire style mirror with an eagle in carved and polychrome wood – late 19th century. Rare and spectacular Empire style mirror in carved wood featuring an eagle with outstretched wings, dominating a circular mirror framed by a polychrome green and gold moulding. The lower part is adorned with an important decoration of finely carved acanthus leaves and scrolls. The eagle, a symbol of power and majesty, is treated with remarkable attention to detail: richly chiselled plumage, head turned in profile, and wings widely open, giving the whole piece an exceptional decorative presence. This type of mirror was traditionally intended for hunting lodges, country houses, or mountain interiors. The beautiful old patina, combined with traces of original polychromy, enhances all the charm and authenticity of this decorative piece. Characteristics: Carved and polychrome wood. Eagle decoration with outstretched wings. Antique circular mirror. 19th-century craftsmanship. Dimensions: Height: 86 cm. Width: 46 cm. Condition: Good overall condition. Wear, minor restorations, and small losses consistent with age. Antique mirror showing slight alterations and traces of time that contribute to the character of the whole. A decorative piece of character, ideal for a château interior, country house, chalet, or cabinet of curiosities. A charming object with strong decorative power, emblematic of 19th-century decorative art.
