apothecary sideboard

Apothecary sideboard originally used to store pharmaceutical products. It opens seven drawers in the belt (the names of the preparations are marked in black on the drawers) and four doors in the lower part. This Restoration Style piece of furniture has kept its side uprights in stylized consoles. It was originally made of white wood, was painted in red (Entre carmine et lie de vin) enhanced with an ivy frieze between the belt and the doors, plants in the center of each door, angels supporting bowls of fruit on the sides. Interlacing under a capital B, surmounted by a lion on its two-level top. Its bottom has been replaced by a plywood panel. There are some missing pieces and numerous wears on the painted patina. Rare 19th century piece of furniture, revisited in the 20th century. A unique piece if ever there was one. Provenance: Bordeaux region.
