Superb antique pedestal (1885-1895) made of ironstone from the Faïencerie de Salins-les-Bains, a rare François Ier model, emblematic of the historicist and neo-Renaissance taste of the late 19th century. The decoration featuring the salamander, the personal royal emblem of François Ier, gives this piece a unique presence and a strong symbolic dimension, rare in the decorative production of ironstone. The particularly refined peripheral frieze alternates between leafy scrolls and medallions adorned with the letter "F", the royal monogram, further reinforcing the identification of this prestigious model. The same applies to the base of the pedestal. The whole is printed in deep black-blue on a delicately patinated ivory background, offering an elegant contrast and great readability of the decoration. The balanced and generous pedestal shape gives the piece a remarkable decorative presence, ideal as a centrepiece, fruit bowl, or striking element on a sideboard. Stamped François 1er Terre de Fer – Salins, visible under the base although somewhat faded, confirms its origin from a major Jura manufacturer. In beautiful vintage condition, with signs of age consistent with the piece's history, well patinated: the old patina, subtle warm nuances, and fine network of crazing testify to its authenticity, without altering either the structure or the graphic quality of the decoration (see photos). Diameter 22.5 cm, height 10 cm, pedestal height 6 cm. A piece of character, with strong symbolic significance, ideal for heritage decor, reinterpreted classic style, or an elegant family home spirit.
