This adorable child's armchair made by Baumann under number 359 in the 50s or 60s deserves to find a new life! Obviously it has many marks that testify to its age: it is missing the swivel tablet at the front, the bowl that allowed it to be transformed into a potty, the seat that was originally removable has been nailed to the chair. It has the patina of time: many various marks on the wood, and the colored lacquer on the bars has large gaps or abrasions. But even as it is, it will still make a very nice child's armchair in a vintage spirit because it is perfectly solid, the nailed seat does not move, I found only one woodworm hole, not active but that I still treated by injecting white vinegar for the sake of conscience (it is my natural method to replace chemical insecticide). It can also be completely restored or revisited. Why do I say Baumann, rather than Japy? Firstly, because it has a tiny trace of the brand affixed underneath, illegible but it evokes Baumann rather than Japy. But above all because I have already had a perfectly identical but complete seat and on this one the Baumann brand was clearly visible. But if you thought it was a Japy, you are partially right I think, because it was Japy who first proposed a very similar model (the only difference was that the legs were in curved wood with a round section and not square like this model and that it was a simple armchair and not convertible into a pot). But in 1939, Baumann bought the furniture branch of Japy and it was probably at this time that the model was very slightly modified to give it square-section legs, then modified more significantly to add the "pot" function. It measures 35 cm in height, 19.5 cm in seat height, 35 cm in maximum width, 35 cm in maximum depth.
