A solid pine stool designed by René Martin, nicknamed "René the Scissors," a discreet but key figure in post-war Alpine design. A close collaborator of Charlotte Perriand, he contributed to the furnishing of ski resorts such as Méribel and Les Arcs in the French Alps. Mounted on a four-legged base with rounded, turned supports, the stool features a thick, circular seat with a slight indentation, highlighting the natural grain of the pine. Combining simplicity, robustness, and rustic elegance, it reflects the refined craftsmanship and timeless modernism of mountain furniture from this period. Provenance: Méribel, circa 1965.
