In the workshops of Murano, fragments of blown glass, remnants of sumptuous chandeliers, have been lying dormant for decades. These are most often superb broken or dismantled chandeliers that have been stored in the warehouses of glassmakers on the famous island near Venice. Too old, too special, these pieces of history had been relegated to the shadows, eclipsed by time and changing fashions. This is where Sigrid de Montrond comes in. Passionate about the art of glassmaking and forgotten skills, she scours the warehouses of Murano's master glassmakers in search of these neglected shards. Rediscovered and enhanced, these fragments are brought back to life through unique compositions, where each piece tells a story. These pieces of glass were taken from light fixtures, the oldest of which date back to the 18th century. This creation is unique and restores all their brilliance to ancient glass fragments. Each piece demonstrates exceptional craftsmanship and a desire to revive the soul of the chandeliers of yesteryear through a new, more contemporary form.
