Antique faience vase Aprey, France, 19th century

Faience vase with a double gourd shape and monochrome blue decoration. Ovoid ribbed body, painted in various shades of blue with blooming peonies; the tapered upper part is adorned with vegetal scrolls. France, Haute-Marne. Blue underglaze mark, attributable to the Aprey factory. The factory was founded in 1780 in Haute-Marne, France, and produced highly decorative faiences, often inspired by other European factories. The monogram AP under the base and the letter J (Jarry, a well-known decorator from this factory) date the piece to the early 19th century.
