A refined collector's piece for enthusiasts of modern Asian art. Modernist and authentic work by Thai artist Saard Thanomwong. This composition features peasants at work in a landscape of rice fields or a traditional market, transposed through the prism of cubism and the geometrisation of forms. The palette favours muted and harmonious tones (blues, greys, ochres, browns) that give the whole a timeless depth and elegance. SAARD THANOMWONG (BORN 1941) Born in Rayong province, Thailand, Saard Thanomwong graduated in 1961 from the prestigious Poh Chang Academy of Arts and Crafts in Bangkok. Before fully dedicating himself to his painting career in 1966, he worked in various artistic roles, including as a large-scale movie poster painter, which gave him remarkable mastery of formats and perspectives. An art teacher and illustrator for renowned establishments such as the Oriental Hotel in Bangkok, he quickly gained strong recognition among international collectors and Western diplomats in the 1970s and 1980s, which explains the presence of his works in the European and American markets. While his later works are famous for their realistic lotus landscapes, his geometric and cubist period remains particularly sought after by collectors.
