Beautiful wall console brilliantly embodying the decorative exuberance of the Louis XV style. Made of gilded wood, it stands out with its moulded and undulating top, featuring cut-cornered front angles that highlight the fluidity and grace of its lines. The richly carved frieze is adorned with large scrolls and finely chiselled volutes, centred by a stylised shell, a classic emblem of the rocaille repertoire, topped with a flower. This abundant decoration evokes nature in motion, dear to the aesthetics of the 18th century. Resting on two prominently curved legs, the console reveals a sculpture of acanthus leaves and scrolls, ending in small curled feet that enhance its airy and refined character. An elegantly carved central motif connects the legs with grace. Through the richness of its ornamentation and the quality of its gilding, this piece captures the eye and embodies French decorative art in all its splendour. It will enhance a classic interior or add a touch of opulence to a contemporary setting. Period: Mid-20th century. Very good condition. Note a difference in the shade of gold between the top and the base.
