Oak modernist side chair by Charles Dudouyt for L'abeillée, France 1940s

Gorgeous side chair by Charles Dudouyt for L'abeillée, France 1940s. L'abeillée was established by Dudouyt after his return from the war and was a furniture manufactory in Pontoise, near Paris. Here he produced furniture in a rustic yet fashionable design. This chair is in a lovley vintage condition. There has been an early small repair to the top part of the backrest as can be seen in the pics. Furthermore we believe originally it may have had the extra finials on the round backrest where it looked more like a boats steering wheel ( we actually prefer this look ). There is a small chip in the lower part of the backrest but all in all an absolutely stunning piece and in a lovely patinated condition. The seat is at a height of 43 cm
