Bench model "Cansado" designed by Charlotte Perriand as part of the development programme for the mining town of Cansado in Mauritania. Designed for the company MIFERMA, this bench furnished the homes of the site's executives, built between 1959 and 1967. It is part of a coherent ensemble combining architecture, furniture, and urban planning. The structure features a black lacquered steel base with thirteen slats of solid mahogany. The seat is complemented by cushions covered in anthracite grey Nobilis wool fabric. Other finishes available on request. Origin: mining town of Cansado, Mauritania. Edition: Steph Simon, circa 1959-1967. Bibliography: Jacques Barsac, Charlotte Perriand, Un art d'habiter, 1903-1959, Paris, 2005, p. 440 (comparable models).
