Guy Vandenbranden, Early XL Geometric Abstract Composition

Monumental geometric abstract composition by Guy Vandenbranden , Belgium, 1977, executed in cellulose lacquer on panel. Vandenbranden belongs to the second generation of Belgian constructivists and developed a strict abstract language of line, plane and colour. The work is preserved in its original thin black wooden frame, with the original label on the reverse. The panel's diagonal structure and lacquered finish show Vandenbranden's hard-edge language at full scale. A strong example of post-war Belgian art.
