Soumak Kilim Rug 140 x 96 cm antique Handwoven Shahsavan

Handwoven by the Shahsavan weavers of north-west Iran, around 1960, this Soumak kilim combines ancestral craftsmanship with the poetry of gesture. Coloured wool is wrapped around cotton threads using the Soumak technique, creating a subtle relief and a unique texture. Its geometric design evokes the mountains of the Caucasus: a deep red background highlighted by black ridges, enhanced with protective symbols and multicoloured diamonds in natural shades (indigo, saffron, pistachio green, ochre).
