Breton earthenware carafe/pitcher/milk jug from the faïencerie de pornic - represents a breton character - 20th century good condition - slight cracks (see photos) "in 1946, pornic was no longer the charming resort of the golden age sea bathing. The inhabitants were marked by their confinement in the "poche de st-nazaire" from which they were not completely liberated until may 1945. The opening of the breton manufacture of artistic earthenware (mbfa) brought a a real breath of fresh air in the fledgling post-war recovery. Creator of jobs in 1948 and progenitor of a plethora of earthenware decorations for half a century, this new breath draws its source from lorraine, in the spirit of the dryander family. The dryanders have been earthenware makers from father to son since 1827 and owners of the niderviller factory in moselle, created in 1735. In september 1939, émile dryander, director at the time, fled the german occupation and took refuge with his wife in pornic. The pornic adventure truly began on february 3, 1947 with the holding of the first management council of the mbfa then, during the summer of 1947, one of his sons, gustave, supported by his wife rented in pornic an abandoned factory that looks like an old english factory." source: https: //www.faiencerie-pornic.fr/entreprise/histoire.html.
