Cherry wood wardrobe

Louis Philippe wardrobe in cherry wood from the early 20th century. The most remarkable element is the flame-grain veneer. The way the wood patterns reflect on the doors and the upper and lower panels is a technique called "mirror matching." The effect: The "V" or "diamond" shapes created by the grain add an impression of movement and luxury without requiring ornamental carvings. Louis-Philippe / Biedermeier: This piece of furniture is characterised by its clean lines and functional elegance. It is distinguished by the absence of heavy and ornate carvings, typical of earlier Rococo periods, and favours the natural beauty of the wood. The cornice: The flared and moulded upper part (the "hat") is a classic feature of 19th-century European wardrobes.
