Pair of Brass Bookends with Openwork Globe Decorations. Work

Each bookend consists of a solid brass bracket with a protruding base, on which a globe is mounted: the continents, treated in solid reserve, stand out from the finely perforated network of parallels and meridians, all rotating within a meridian arc finished with brass spheres, reminiscent of library globes. This globe motif, rendered in patinated brass with bronze tones, fits within the taste for library and cabinet objects from the 1970s, which revived the instruments of geography and travel as ornaments for the cultured interior.
